Friday was the last day of competition. According to the weather briefing, a narrow soaring window was exploitable in the afternoon. So, the planes grided as usual, and we waited for the first in flight observations of the sniffer. The standard class was launched at 15.10. Unfortunately, the thermal basis was too low so lots of gliders had to land and relaunch. The decision was taken from the organization to cancel both classes. Disappointment for some pilots, relief for others! Especially because there was very little gap in terms of points between some pilots on the podium. That´s how a competition sometimes ends!
So, the overall results in the club class are:
- Kim Toppari (Finland) with 2823 points
- Toby Freeland (U.K.) with 2822 points
- Alexandre Fierain (France) with 2773 points
The overall results in the standard class are:
- Lukas Kriz (Czech Republic) with 2878 points
- Jaromir Macoun (Czech Republic) with 2793 points
- Michaela Rendlova (Czech Republic) with 2769 points
After all gliders were packed in the trailers and the FAI flag returned to the organization, the farewell party was declared open. We could enjoy some very nice meals and turn on the fancy sound system that kept the whole camping site awake until 04.00 in the morning.
After a short night, the prize giving ceremony was held in the big tent. Moving moments for some pilots and organizers…
The 6th Junior European Gliding Championship is now over and we thank you all for your commitment, professionalism and happiness you brought here.
